This past year has been one of momentum, renewal, and meaningful milestones for the Saskatchewan Retirees Association (SRA). As we look toward the holiday season, I’m pleased to share a few reflections on the progress we’ve made together.
We finalized our new three-year Strategic Plan—developed with Praxis Consulting, who also supported last year’s Organizational Review. This plan now serves as our roadmap for the years ahead, strengthening our capacity to serve members and advance our mission.
In honour of SRA’s 50th Anniversary, we launched the SRA Legacy Scholarships—an exciting new initiative supporting members and their families. Five scholarships of $5,000 where available at each of the University of Regina, the University of Saskatchewan, and Saskatchewan Polytechnic. This investment in future learners is a fitting way to celebrate our past while helping build what comes next. The list of the winners will be available in January.
Reconnecting with members has been a priority this year. We participated in the Spotlight on Seniors event in Saskatoon on October 7 and welcomed more than 200 members at our Regina and area luncheon on October 22. These outstanding gatherings remind us of the strength of our community and offer valuable opportunities to visit, share, and celebrate together.
We were delighted to also hold a draw for fifteen $50 gift cards, just in time for Christmas, as a special way to thank and recognize our members during our 50-year celebrations.
This year, we welcomed five new Board members—Irwin Blank, Edward Plumb, Kyle Chow, Donald Monaghan, and Dean Parker—broadening our representation across the province, from Regina and Regina Beach to Saskatoon, Kenosee Lake, and Prince Albert.
In Nov we launch a new SRA service supported by Trip Merchant offering members the opportunity to enjoy up to 50% off travel experiences through trusted partners around the world, including: River & Ocean Cruises | Guided Tours | Long Stay Vacations | African Safaris | Adventure & Active Travel | Solo & Group Journeys. I am happy to say that a number of SRA members are already taking advantage of this new service.
We were also pleased to renew our long-standing partnership with GMS through a new five-year agreement and expanded flexibility within our Health and Dental Plans, including new drug-coverage and dental-maximum options. We also worked to enhancing our travel insurance options, with additional add on days added as January 1, 2026, as a pilot project as move to more permanent add-ons with the renewal in 2026.
In January, you will also see communication from Insightrix, who will be conducting a new member survey. This survey builds on the one completed in 2022 and will help ensure we continue to meet member needs and expectations. Your feedback is essential, and I encourage you to take the brief time needed to participate.
Together, these accomplishments reflect both the legacy we honour and the future we are building. On behalf of the SRA Board of Directors, thank you for your trust, support, and engagement throughout the year. We look forward to the opportunities ahead—and to continuing this journey with you.
Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful Christmas season and a healthy, happy New Year.
