The Next Challenge- Prescription Drug Costs

  • in Current Events
  • — 15 Sep, 2013

Over recent years there has been increasing concern due to the continued escalation in pharmaceutical costs for SRA members. This can, to a large degree, be attributed to the increasing costs of these pharmaceuticals, the aging of our membership and their requirement for more prescription drugs.

Your Association has been following this situation for some time and has developed several proposals which will be advanced to the Minister of Health and his officials for their consideration. These proposals, if implemented, result in considerable reductions in expenditures for SRA members and all retirees in Saskatchewan. These proposals relate to: multi prescriptions with one dispensing fee; use of more generic drugs, travel costs for seniors and reduced/no fees for seniors.

We will continue to search for dialogue with government officials and lobby for you to resolve this issue for your benefit!
