NEWS UPDATE
Update
– January 16, 2009
We have heard from our lawyers. Not exactly earth shattering news, but
news all the same.
Our Lawyers indicated that they have been in communication with the Government lawyer
Mr.Darryl Brown. Brown, in considering his position, was not inclined to discuss the intent of it, as he (rightly) believes
that it is part of the pre-trial and his position is confidential between him and the Judge.
Our lawyers believe Judge Dawson can be of major assistance to us and will ascertain whether
an out of court settlement can be achieved. They suggest that since the Government material was only delivered
to Judge Dawson the week of December 29, they want to give her more time to deal with this matter.
The Lawyers indicate that an out of court settlement is the best option and have some difficulty
accepting that it has taken over two months for the Government to deliver a message if they are not prepared to negotiate anything.
The lawyers indicate if they come to the view that a settlement is not a possibility, then they would immediately
press to move the matter forward to the court.
Our legal team recommends we hang tight and that our best option is to wait and see if
Judge Dawson’s discussions with the Government provide some positive results.
